Thank you to the Office of the District Attorney General/Nashville-Davidson County and to Tennessee Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan for working with our LEAD Academy U.S. Government class earlier this week to learn more about the judicial system.

From teacher Roy Word: “(We) were hosted by the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office. The classes were split into four groups and taken to different court rooms to observe cases with their Assistant District Attorney hosts. Scholars were able to see the judicial system in action! Our students asked questions and engaged with the staff.”

After the two hours of courtroom observations, the seniors in the Class of 2018 returned to the conference room where a panel of judges, attorneys, and advocates spoke with our seniors about positive relationships and the dangers of domestic violence.

After lunch, District Attorney Glenn Funk came in and spoke with the class followed by special guest, Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan. Both spoke about the power of positive relationships. Both Mr. Funk and Mr. Morgan fielded questions from our students, as well, and Mr. Morgan stayed around to speak one on one to our students and take photos.

This was an all around incredible experience for our students, one that was covered locally by WKRN. For your commitment, discipline and for serving others, all LEADers shoutout!
